On July 20, 2010 Mike Cooper (my dad) was appointed Mayor of the City of Edmonds. Former Mayor Gary Haakenson took a job with Snohomish County and resigned earlier in July. He was sworn in on July 23 by good friend (and judge) Steve Dwyer.
I am so proud of my dad. Especially considering almost exactly a year before this he was diagnosed with Mulitiple Myeloma. In the year since he underwent chemo, a stemcell transplant, and became Mayor! What an amazing year! He is now Mayor of his hometown and has no cancer in his blood!
