"Phog" the hippo

We took Trinity to Build a Bear Workshop today. I found college shirts on the Build a Bear website and ordered a Jayhawk t-shirt. We figured then Trinity could have a special cuddly during basketball games! We arrive and decide to give Trinity the opportunity to choose what she wanted to make. As we stand and look at a wall of bears, dogs, bunnies, monkeys, dinasours, and Hippos Jason subtly starts to suggest a monkey or dog, and Trinity says she wants the hippo. At this point Jason more obviously suggests a monkey or dog! And Trinity still wants the hippo! Trinity got her way (of course) and got a purple hippo! When we pick it out there is no stuffing, just the outside. We go to the stuffing machine and Trinity gets to stand on the peddle to put the stuffing into her hippo.

Next step in creating her hippo is the "heart ceremony". Trinity followed instructions so well, she was jumping twice, and put the heart to her nose and kissed the heart, then she put the heart into her hippo. They have a little bathtub looking thing that is like a blow dryer, so we gave hippo a "bath". Then we had to pick out clothes, and we were told due to the "larger hips" on the hippo a skirt would be better then shirt! We found a cute denim skirt that tied everything together and Jason was finally feeling slightly better about the Jayhawk t-shirt on a purple hippo!

Next we got to name the hippo and print out the birth certificate, yes we got a real birth certificate. Trinity's hippo was named "Phog", after the Phog Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas where the Jayhawks play their home games.

Trinity loves to cuddle with Phog!

GO JAYHAWKS!! (Basketball season officially started with Midnight Madness on October 12)
